Sawako Kuronuma a quiet girl who has difficulties connecting with her peers at school. Due to the rumors about her practicing black magic and resembling "Sadako" from the movie "The Ring," make it even harder for her classmates to find out who Sawako really is: an optimistic girl who is eager to help those around her.

Sawako has always admired Shota Kazehaya from afar, for his energetic and outgoing personality, a trait in which she hopes to develop one day. Shota, on the other hand, have always known Sawako to be the opposite of what their classmates portray her as, despite not speaking to her until a fateful day.

'Kimi ni Todoke' is a slow paced romance with constant miscommunication and confusion between the two leads, Sawako and Shota. However, in the end, both leads are able to express how they feel, thus, putting an end to turmoil caused by her peers and establishing an understanding between the two.
